BRIDGEWATER, Mass.—Despite a perfect 2-0 day from sophomore Kristy Garcia (Miami, Fla.), UMass Boston women's tennis fell 7-2, Saturday afternoon to host Bridgewater State University.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Bears kept their perfect Little East Conference season intact thanks to wins at second and third doubles and second through sixth singles.
Garcia and senior co-captain Logan Smith (Southwick, Mass.) were the lone thorns in the Bears side Saturday, as the pair opened the match with an 8-0 win at first doubles, to give UMass Boston a short-lived 1-0 lead.
The Bears would respond right back with an 8-0 win at third doubles, and Bridgewater's second doubles pairing defeated Kelsey Shea (West Bridgewater, Mass.) and Vicky Woytowicz (Springfield, Mass.) 8-3 at second doubles.
Bridgewater State opened singles play with quick wins at sixth and third singles to push their lead out to 4-1.
Garcia cut the lead back to two, as the sophomore earned an impressive 6-0, 6-2 win at first singles over Alison Vautrin.
The hosts would clinch the match win at fifth singles and pushed their lead to 6-2 with a 6-4, 6-1 win at fourth singles.
In the final singles match to finish, Smith pushed Bridgewater's Alisha Silva at second singles, in the most competitive match of the day. The Beacons senior ended up losing 6-3, 7-6 (7-0).
BY THE NUMBERS
- Bridgewater improved to 5-0 in conference play and the Bears have now outscored their conference opponents 33-10.
- Garcia picked up her sixth and seventh victories of the season in the loss.
- Bridgewater improved to a perfect 10-0 against UMass Boston. The Bears have won three-straight matches by identical 7-2 scores.

UMass Boston will look to clinch an LEC playoff spot and set a new program-record for conference wins (four), when they host Western Connecticut State University on Wednesday at 3 p.m. The two teams were initially scheduled to play the match on September 30.
