SPRINGFIELD, MA (May 2, 2026) -- UMass Boston sent a competitive group of athletes to the 2026 DIII New England Regional Championships hosted by Springfield College, with several standout performances across the field and track events.
Points Earners
The Beacons tallied points in five events. Senior Olutemi Alofe (Roslindale, Mass.) led the way in the field, finishing sixth in the Shot Put with a throw of 14.59m to earn three points. On the track, senior Aryianna Garceau (Dalton, Mass.) had a strong showing in the Women's 200 Meter Dash, placing fourth in a time of 25.05 to contribute five points — the team's best individual finish of the meet. The Men's 4x100 and 4x400 relay teams each earned two points with seventh-place finishes, clocking 42.88 and 3:23.26, respectively.
Field Events
Senior Neville Richards (Wellington, Fla.)Â competed in both the Discus Throw and Hammer Throw, reaching the finals in the Hammer and finishing 13th with a throw of 47.42m. He and Alofe both competed in the Discus as well, with both advancing out of Heat One. Freshman Liam Feliz Montilla (Boston, Mass.) rounded out the field contingent with a 17th-place finish in the High Jump, clearing 1.82m.
Track Events
Feliz also competed on the track, finishing 10th in the Men's 200 Meter Dash in 22.57. Junior Justin Riley (Weymouth, Mass.) in the Men's 110 Meter Hurdles prelims posted a time of 15.50 to place 14th. Freshman Omar Mishal (Peabody, Mass.) competed in the Men's 400 Meter Hurdles, finishing 16th in 56.05.
Looking Ahead
With select runners looking to make a final push at the nationals stage, the New England Intercollegiate Coaches' Amateur Athletics Association (NEICAAA) All-New England Championships is next Saturday (May 9) in Easton, MA., going up against the best competitors from all of New England across all three NCAA divisions.Â
