SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (April 4, 2026) – The UMass Boston men's and women's track and field teams traveled west on Interstate 90 to compete at the Springfield College Outdoor Classic on Saturday, highlighted by 17 Top 10 finishes. 

Men's Highlights 

First-year Liam Feliz Montilla (Boston, Mass.) placed sixth in a field of 13 in the high jump with a clearance of 1.82 meters (5 feet, 11.75 inches).  

In the discus throw, first-year Areno Saint-Victor Fabian (Peabody, Mass.) and senior Olutemi Alofe (Roslindale, Mass.) placed sixth and eighth respectively, posting marks of 39.74 meters (130 feet, 5 inches) and 39.55 meters (129 feet, 9 inches). Alofe and Saint-Victor Fabian also competed in the shot put, placing third and fourth, with marks of 14.14 meters (46 feet, 4.75 inches) and 14.01 meters (45 feet, 11.50 inches).  

In the javelin throw, first-year Emmanuel Guzman (Boston, Mass.) recorded a new personal best performance, with a mark of 48.59 meters (159 feet, 5.0 inches), an improvement from his previous best of 47.50 meters (155 feet, 10.05 inches), set at the UMass Flagship Opener, for a fifth-place finish. 

In the 110-meter hurdles, junior Justin Riley (Weymouth, Mass.) and first-year Omar Mishal (Peabody, Mass.) placed in the top eight in the qualifying round, with Riley finishing in 15.72 seconds, and Mishal finishing behind in 16.00 seconds. In the final, Riley posted a fourth-place finish with a time of 15.68, while Mishal finished sixth, with a time of 16.28 seconds. 

In the 1500-meter run, first-year Noah Gendebien (Lisbon, N.Y.) finished in 10th place with a time of 4:17.16.  

In the 400-meter dash, sophomore Elaijah Monteiro (New Bedford, Mass.) posted a seventh-place finish with a time of 51.36 seconds. 

Mishal and Riley also competed in the 400-meter hurdles, with Mishal finishing in second with a time of 55.49 seconds and Riley finishing in third with a time of 56.21 seconds. With Mishal's time, he further solidifies himself into the UMass Boston track and field record books, breaking his previous record of 55.99 seconds at the UMass Flagship Opener. First-year Kurt Deitrich (Nanuet, N.Y) also placed in the Top 10, posting an eighth-place finish with a time of 58.16 seconds. 

Women's Highlights 

In the discus throw, senior Alessandra Albano (Haverhill, Mass.) placed seventh, posting a mark of 31.86 meters (104 feet, 6.0 inches). 

In the javelin throw, sophomore Mariah Romaine (Plymouth, Mass.) posted a seventh-place finish with a mark of 34.25 meters (112 feet, 4.0 inches). 

Junior Agnessa Lysenko (Boston, Mass.) placed sixth in the hammer throw, with a mark of 39.85 meters (130 feet, 9.0 inches). 

First-year Amelia Caruso (Scarborough, Maine) finished in seventh place in the 400-meter dash in 1:03.09. 

First-year Molly Hilditch (Auburn, Mass.) narrowly finished in 10th place in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:35.72, finishing 0.03 seconds ahead of the 11th-place finisher. 

The 4x400-meter relay team, consisting of Caruso, Sophie Almeida (Taunton, Mass.), Kiyani Liriano, and Romaine, placed fourth with a time of 4:37.21.
