BOSTON, Mass. (March 1, 2026) – Powered by reigning NCAA Division III 60-meter hurdles national champion Aryianna Garceau (Dalton, Mass.), the UMass Boston track and field team delivered a standout performance at the 2026 NCAA Division III New England Indoor Track and Field Championships at the TRACK at New Balance.
Garceau accounted for all 20 of the women's team points, capturing two individual titles in record-breaking fashion. In the 60-meter hurdles final, she blazed to an historic 8.31 finish, securing the Division III national record and further cementing her place in the record books. With the performance, Garceau now owns both the indoor (60m hurdles) and outdoor (100m hurdles) Division III national records. She also eclipsed her own UMass Boston school record set at last year's NCAA Championships.
Garceau added a second gold medal in the 200-meter dash, setting a new DIII New England Championship meet record with a time of 24.32.
On the men's side, the Beacons were represented in three events.
Justin Riley (Weymouth, Mass.) competed in the 60-meter hurdles, finishing just shy of his personal best with a time of 8.57.
In the high jump, the tandem of Alex Huynh and Liam Feliz Montilla (Boston, Mass.) turned in strong performances. Feliz Montilla cleared 1.90 meters, while Huynh tied for seventh place with a clearance of 1.95 meters.
The 4x400-meter relay team of Riley, Melvin Wiltshire (Boston, Mass.), Omar Mishal (Peabody, Mass.), and Elaijah Montiero (New Bedford, Mass.) closed out the meet with a time of season-best 3:22.05, setting a new program-record in the process.
UMass Boston now turns its attention to the outdoor season, carrying valuable championship experience into the spring.
Garceau will next compete at the New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athletics Association (NEICAAA) All-New England Championships, featuring top competitors from all NCAA divisions across the region. The meet will be held March 6–7 at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston.
