PROVIDENCE, R.I. (September 22, 2025) – After a dominant 2-0 week, three members of the UMass Boston men's soccer team swept the Little East Conference weekly awards. Junior forward John Arruda (Espirito Santo, Brazil), sophomore defender Michael Lewis (Wilmington, Mass.), and first-year goalkeeper Nolan McKenna (Norwell, Mass.) were each recognized following wins over the University of New England (5-0) and Rhode Island College (4-1).
Arruda earned his first Offensive Player of the Week honor of the season after scoring three of the Beacons' nine goals, including a brace that lifted UMass Boston past Rhode Island College.
Lewis collected his first career Defensive Player of the Week award, anchoring a back line that allowed just one goal across both matches.
McKenna picked up a pair of honors—Rookie of the Week and Goalkeeper of the Week—for his strong work in net. The first-year stopper faced 19 total shots, made nine saves, and set a career high with seven stops against RIC, conceding just once across two games.
UMass Boston will look to extend its form on Saturday, September 27, when the Beacons travel to Keene, N.H., for a 1:00 p.m. LEC matchup with Keene State.
