Gualtieri and Beacons Recognized by USILA for Academic Excellence

Boston, MA. (July 1, 2025) — The United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) has named UMass Boston graduate student Nick Gualtieri a 2025 Scholar All-American, recognizing his exceptional performance both on the field and in the classroom.

A key contributor during the 2025 season, Gualtieri appeared in all 19 games for the Beacons, earning 11 starts. He tallied four goals and two assists for six points, while also recording an impressive 54 ground balls and causing 19 turnovers — a testament to his relentless hustle and defensive prowess. Off the field, Gualtieri excelled academically in UMass Boston's graduate program, embodying the true spirit of a Scholar All-American.

To be considered for USILA Scholar All-American status, student-athletes must be seniors academically, maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale, and be nominated by their head coach. Gualtieri's recognition reflects both his athletic impact and his commitment to academic success.

In addition to Gualtieri's individual honor, the UMass Boston men's lacrosse team was named a USILA All-Scholar Team, a distinction reserved for programs that collectively achieve a team GPA of 3.0 or higher. This accolade highlights the Beacons' dedication to excellence across the board, showcasing a culture that values discipline, hard work, and academic achievement just as much as on-field success.

With this recognition, Gualtieri and the Beacons continue to raise the standard for what it means to be a student-athlete at UMass Boston.
