BOSTON, MA. (February 28, 2025) – The Beacons' women's track and field team sent three elite representatives to compete among New England's finest at the Division III New England Indoor Track and Field Championships, from the Track at New Balance.
Day One Results:
In the 60m Dash,
Aryianna Garceau (Dalton, Mass.) and
Jhenelle Evans (Milton, Mass.) each took to the straightaway. Evans finished in 8.07s, just 0.01s off her personal-best, set back in December of 2024 (8.06s). Garceau finished first for the Beacons in 7.81s, ranking fifth out of 37 competitors. With Garceau among the top eight heading into Saturday, Garceau automatically qualifies for the 60m finals on Saturday (Mar. 1).
Tomorrow,
Dorinda Okorji (Maynard, Mass.) will take to the women's high jump, as Garceau loads up the blocks for a 60m final, and a 200m trial.
Day Two Results:
In the 60m Dash Finals, Garceau laced up and finished in a blistering 7.81s, just 0.07s off her collegiate best. She followed her 60m finish by tying her collegiate best in the women's 200m dash, as she finished sixth among more than 30 competitors.
Whats Next:
The majority of the Beacons' track and field team are now prepping for an intense spring season. For Garceau, she will continue on next week in the 60m hurdles at the New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association (NEICAAA) Championships at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston, MA., on Friday and Saturday of next week (Mar. 7-8), featuring competitors across NCAA Division I-III in the New England Region.
