PROVIDENCE, R.I. (November 13, 2024) – Following the conclusion of the 2024-25 Little East Conference men's soccer season, the LEC names three Beacons to major awards, and included four to the All-LEC teams.
Major Award Winners:
To start, the Beacons' coaching staff of 11
th-year head coach
Jake Beverlin, along with
Marcelo Cunha and
Estive Sosa were awarded with the 2024 LEC Coaching Staff of the Year awards for guiding the Beacons to a 10-1-6 overall record including an undefeated 6-0-2 LEC record. The Beacons shutout conference opponents on eight occasions, held opponents to 10.6 shots per game while allowing just 0.53 goals per game all season in one of the most polished defensive performances the Beacons have ever seen.
Four-year veteran, senior defensive wing-back Logan Erickson-Potter (Swansea, Mass.) caps off his career with UMass Boston with the LEC Defensive Player of the Year Award. While also manning the corner of a potent defensive line, Erickson Potter also finished the season leading the Beacons in scoring with five goals and six assists for 16 season points.
Graduate goalkeeper
Andy Ramirez (Waltham, Mass.) undoubtedly earns the LEC Goalkeeper the Year Award. In 15 games played, Ramirez led the conference in save percentage (.897) and goals allowed average (.46). Ramirez only conceded six goals in over 1,100 minutes between the posts, registered 52 saves against 110 shots, and combined for 10 shutouts to go an undefeated 9-0-4 this season.
All-LEC First Team Winners:
Ramirez and Erickson Potter earn their spot among the LEC's first team as Defensive and Goalkeeper of the Year. Also getting first team nods for UMass Boston was senior defensive back
Diego Gisholt (Tijuana, Mex.), and sophomore defensive back
Ian Visnick (Beverly, Mass.). "Ironman" Gisholt earns his third all-conference honors following his first team and Defensive Player of the Year selections in 2022. While manning the back line, Gisholt led the team in assists with seven. Visnick earns his first all-conference award of his career. Being recognized as a member of the first team is a testament to the role he played in the stonewall Beacons' defense this season.
All-LEC Second Team Winner:
Junior Midfielder
Luan Cruz gets his first all-conference nod of his career, being named as apart of the All-LEC Second Team as a midfielder. Cruz started in 12 matches and played in 15 for over 1,000 minutes of action on the pitch. The junior added two assists this season, one against Salve Regina in the season opener, and again against Rhode Island College on October 5.
