BOSTON, Mass.—With no live sports to watch, why not relive some of the top recent moments in UMass Boston athletics history?
Each week, UMass Boston athletics welcomes the UMass Boston athletics community to watch and tweet along as we go back into the archive and watch some of the Beacons' biggest triumphs.
This week we will be doing a special Beacons Rewind Thursday edition (Thursday, May 28) starting at 6 p.m. We are reairing the 2016 New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) Championship Game between #1 Men's Hockey and rival #2 Babson College. The 2015-16 men's hockey team put together one of the most successful seasons in program history. The Beacons won the program's first regular-season title since 1982, won 20 or more games for just the third time in program history and were playing in their third-ever conference title game. The only issue was the opponent. Babson College had ended the Beacons season in each of the prior three post seasons and had the best goalie in the country in Jamie Murray. With a maximum capacity crowd and home-ice advantage, would this be the time the Beacons finally downed the Beavers?
HOW IT WORKS: We encourage everyone to start watching the webcast (video below) at 6:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. If you join late, you can just scroll forward on the YouTube link (we'll be including on twitter what point of the webcast on youtube we are at), or watch from the beginning-it's up to you.
We want to make this interactive. So each week we will try to line up coaches and players, in addition to the main @UMassbeacons account, who will be tweeting about the game as it goes along.
This week we encourage you to follow along with former men's hockey assistant head coach Sean Walsh (@sean3walsh). Also check out the @UMBMenshockey team account where All-Americans Tyler Bishop ('17) and Colin Larkin ('18) and alumni/color commentator Matt Meisenbacher ('15) will be tweeting their thoughts and memories from the game.
You can get involved in the conversation by either tweeting @UMassbeacons or using the hashtag #BeaconsRewind.
We are going to start watching the webcast at 21:00 in the video (feel free to watch the first 21 minutes of the pregame before 6 p.m. if you want). Scroll ahead to 21:00 in the video and then click play right at 6 p.m. (Eastern).
