Perfect Dozen: Crawford's Big Day Leads Women's Soccer Past Rams

BOSTON, Mass.—Sophomore Allie Crawford (Kingston, Mass.) recorded a career-high seven points, to help UMass Boston women's soccer rout host Framingham State University 5-0 on Tuesday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Crawford had a hand in all five of the Beacons' goals, as part of a career day for the midfielder. She scored a career-high two goals and three assists, to help the Beacons record a season-high in goals. 

Fellow sophomores Grace Oliver (Rockland, Mass.), Grace McGettrick (Marshfield, Mass.) and Dani Anderson (St. Augustine, Fla.) also scored in the victory.

Freshmen Kaylee Haynes (Bridgewater, Mass.) and Isa Andrade (Cambridge, Mass.) each recorded assists in the win. 

In net, Maria Spylios (Leominster, Mass.) and Abby McCulloch (Weymouth, Mass.) combined for the shutout. Spylios did not see a shot in the first 45 minutes, while McCulloch posted two saves in the second half. 

Framingham State's Madison Brown fell to 2-11-1 after making 17 saves on 22 shots.  

The Beacons jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the 19th minute, when Oliver beat the Rams keeper with an assist from Crawford. 

McGettrick added to the lead less than three minutes later, with Crawford again assisting.

UMass Boston added a third goal in in the 42nd minute, when Crawford got in on the action to send the teams to the break with the Beacons up 3-0.

The Beacons padded their lead in the second half with Anderson and Crawford scoring back-to-back goals in just over a 3-minute span. 

BY THE NUMBERS

  • UMass Boston outshot the Rams 33-2 and held a 22-2 edge in shots on goal. 
  • With her three assists, Crawford moved into fourth place in program history in career assists (24). She has now recorded assists in three-straight games. 
  • UMass Boston has now six of the past seven meetings against the Rams and tied the all-time series 7-7-3. 
  • McGettrick moved into a tie for fifth-place in program history in career goals (19) with her first-half goal. She tied former teammate Jaclyn O'Grady (19) with the marker. 
  • The Beacons have now won 12 consecutives game and six consecutive non-conference contests. 
  • UMass Boston's previous high for goals scored this season came on October 5, when they scored four goals against Plymouth State University. 

WHO'S NEXT 

UMass Boston will host Keene State College on Saturday at 1 p.m. for Senior Day. The Beacons will honor seniors Taylor Bilyak (Willington, Conn.) and Miranda Smith (Runnemede, N.J.) before the contest.
