HOW IT HAPPENED

From start to finish the Beacons controlled every aspect of Monday's match-up.  UMass jumped out to a 4-2 lead in the first and never looked back.  They secured the win in the second tallying six goals, while after the halftime break, they added five more scores to the Eagles two.

Arnold's seven points marked a career-high for the junior transfer, while Smith's six goals and eight points were both career-highs for the junior attackman.

Defensively, the Beacons were very impressive forced a combined 33 Daniel Webster turnovers, while their transition game finished 11-for-16 on clear attempts.

Between the pipes the Beacons showcased senior AJ Collette (West Springfield, Mass.) and sophomore Nick Passalugo (Barnstable, Mass.).  The two netminders combined for just two stops with the win going to Collette.  Kroy Arnold (Syracuse, N.Y.) dominated the face-off "X" for the second straight game as he finished 14-for-21, while also picking up a goal and an assist.

Also having a solid game for the Beacons was Adam Cariveau (Hudson, Mass.) and Josh Holmes (Weymouth, Mass.), as the freshmen finished with four points each.

For the Eagles, goalie James Bushey had an impressive showing totaling 22 stops, which included nine in the second quarter alone.

Through the first 18:58 of Monday's contest, Clary Arnold had a hand in every Beacons goal.  He started the afternoon off with the team's first score, before recorded back-to-back assists to make it 3-1 at the time.  He then netted a pair to make it 5-2.  From there Smith took over recording one assist and five goals, including four straight to give UMass Boston a 14-3 lead with 2:55 to play in the third quarter.
