Framingham State Edges Women's Soccer 2-1

FRAMINGHAM, Mass. – A goal by Framingham State in the 73rd minute proved to be the deciding tally, as the Rams handed women's soccer a 2-1 non-conference loss Tuesday afternoon at Maple Street Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The game-winning tally came from Casey Good, who knocked-in a pass from Shelly Nardi. 

The Rams struck first in the 37th minute when Caitlin Our chipped in a shot over the keepers head off a pass from Kayla Almstrom. 

However, the Beacons responded right back just eight seconds later when Jaclyn O'Grady (Somers, Conn.) showed some tremendous foot skills and dribbled through multiple Framingham State players.  The junior forward would then send in a long strike that beat the Rams keeper to make it a 1-1 affair.

Between the posts, Gigi Braga (Medford, Mass.) made a total of nine saves for the Beacons, while Framingham State's Jennifer Stevens combined for three stops.

BY THE NUMBERS

  • On the day the Rams led the contest 23-13 in total shots
  • The Beacons led in corner kicks 2-1
  • All-time UMass Boston is 5-7 against Framingham State; The two teams share three ties between them
  • The loss ended the Beacons four-game win-streak over the Rams which dated back to 2010
