(Daniel Webster College 1-18-1)
HOW IT HAPPENED
Daniel Nachbaur (Richland, Wash.), Colin Larkin (Waterford, Mich.) and Ryan Cusin (Detroit, Mich.) all scored within a 15-minute span of the second period-to provide Bustard all the offense he would need.
The freshman netminder stopped 23 shots, including 11 in the third period, for his second collegiate shutout. Bustard, who was making his first start since December 30, improves to 8-4-2 on the season.
Nolan Redler (Winchester, Mass.) added two assists, while Dante Suffredini (Detroit, Mich.), John Bonno (Kennesaw, Ga.) and Albee Daley (Averill Park, N.Y.) each had one assist apiece.
Daniel Webster College netminder Anthony D'Urso kept his team in the game by making 71 saves on 74 shots. The junior goalie stopped 24 shots in the first, 21 in the second and 26 more in the third, to fall to 1-7-1 on the year.
Anthony Langevin led the host Eagles with four shots.
UMass Boston peppered D'Urso throughout the first period, but had nothing to show for it on the scoreboard. Despite a 24-6 shot advantage and two power-plays, including a short 5-on-3, the Beacons only managed to hit two pipes, and found themselves tied 0-0.
Nachbaur opened the scoring 3:26 into the second off an assist from Suffredini. After a slew of Beacons shots in the opening three minutes, Nachbuar beat D'Urso to open the floodgates.
Larkin doubled the advantage at 7:34 with his team-leading 18th goal of the season. Redler and Bonno each earned assists on the play.
UMass Boston put the game away for good at 17:55. With the Beacons on the man-advantage, Cusin notched his 14th goal of the year to make it 3-0. This time it was Redler and Daley picking up assists.
The Beacons nearly added a fourth goal late in the third, but Cody Wickline's (Flower Mound, Texas) shot connected with the pipe with 14 seconds left in regulation.
