Box Score BOSTON, Mass.—UMass Boston lacrosse outscored cross-town rival Emerson College in all four quarters, to improve to 6-0 for just the fourth time in program history.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Conor Smith (Kingston, Mass.), Calvin Lee (Hopkinton, Mass.) and Matthew Duggan (Weymouth, Mass.) all recorded hat tricks, to lead UMass Boston to their first 6-0 start since 2005.
This year's team tied the 1993 and 2005 teams for the second-best start in program-history at 6-0. The only team to record a better start was the 1997 squad-that started the season 11-0.
Smith led the Beacons with a season-high four goals on just six shots and he added three ground balls. Lee posted his sixth hat trick in as many games in a UMass Boston uniform, as the senior transfer led the Beacons with his six points (three goals and three assists). Duggan added three goals on three shots, for his fourth hat trick of the year.
Senior attack Dino Flori (Watertown, Mass.) was the final Beacon to finish with multiple goals. Flori posted a career-high four points, with two goals and two assists.
Anthony Tortora (Medford, Mass.), Brendan Lovely (Foxborough, Mass.) and Smith tied for the team lead with three ground balls apiece, while Lovely and Jim Ganem (Medfield, Mass.) each finished with three caused turnovers.
In net, AJ Collette (West Springfield, Mass.) stopped eight of the 13 shots he faced, to improve to 3-0 on the year.
Cameron Radenberg and Andrew Romano led the host Lions with two goals apiece. Bailey Kennedy took the loss for Emerson, as he stopped 11 of 26 shots on the afternoon.
UMass Boston outscored the Lions 5-1 in the first quarter, before pushing their lead to 8-2 at the break. The third quarter would be more of the same, as UMass Boston made it 13-4 through 45 minutes. The Beacons tacked on a 2-1 advantage in the final quarter, to triple up Emerson.
BY THE NUMBERS
- UMass Boston was extremely strong in transition, as they went 26-for-28 in clear attempts.
- The Beacons finished 2-for-7 in man-up situations and tacked on a man down goal. On the other side, Emerson went 0-for-8 with the extra man.
- The Lions held a 14-8 edge in the face-off x.
