Box Score

COLCHESTER, Vt.—Despite a 3-point night from Colin Larkin (Waterford, Mich.), #8/10 UMass Boston men's hockey had to settle for another hard-fought 5-5 road tie Saturday afternoon.

THE BASICS

#8/10 UMass Boston 5, Saint Michael's College 5

(UMass Boston 5-3-1, NEHC 2-3-1)

(Saint Michael's College 3-7-1, NEHC 2-5-1)

HOW IT HAPPENED

UMass Boston held three separate one-goal leads, including one into the final two minutes, only for Saint Michael's Josh Dickman to tie the game at 5-5 with 1:46 to play.

Both teams earned a power play chance in the final minutes and in overtime, but UMass Boston could only muster two shots and the Purple Knights were limited to three.

Larkin scored both of the Beacons' goals in the second period and added an assist on their first goal for a team-high three points. Senior Albee Daley (Averill Park, N.Y.) added the final tally, while freshmen Ryan Cusin (Detroit, Mich.) and Nolan Redler (Winchester, Mass.) each scored in the first stanza.

Tyler Bishop (Ramsey, N.J.) and Daley each finished with two points, while Bishop tacking on his team-leading 13th and 14th assists of the year.

In net, Jordan Bustard (Flanders, N.J.) posted a career-high 36 saves, but was charged with all five goals allowed.

Dickman paced the hosts with two goals and an assist of his own, while Danny Divis (1 G, 1 A), William Santangeli and Connor Mitchell also found the back of the net.

Chris Johnson stopped 45 of 50 shots from Saint Michael's College, who took three points this weekend off of #12 Babson College and #8/10 UMass Boston.

The first period sparked the high-scoring affair, with the two teams combining for four goals in the opening 12:40.

After Dickman scored a power-play goal at 1:30, Cusin tied the game back at 2:41, with Bishop and Larkin recording assists.

UMass Boston took the first of their three leads at 11:19, as Redler finished off feeds from Tyler Sifferlen (North Andover, Mass.) and Gabe Chuckran (Media, Pa.). The lead would be short-lived though, at Mitchell scored a power-play goal at 12:40.

The Purple Knights added on their final power-play goal 1:51 into the second, when Divis scored to give the hosts a 3-2 advantage.

Larkin took over from there, as the junior scored at 6:35 and then tacked on a power-play goal at 9:03. Daley and Cusin picked up assists on the first goal, while John Regnart (Anchorage, Alaska) dished out an assist on the power-play goal.

After over 20 minutes without a goal, the two teams struck for three more goals in the final 10 minutes. Santangeli tied the game at 4-4 for Saint Michael's at 13:46.

UMass Boston took the lead back at 15:45. With the Beacons on the power play, Bishop rifled a shot off Johnson and Daley lifted the rebound home for a 5-4 lead.

Saint Michael's had one final response though, as Dickman scored on a chaotic play in front, that saw Bustard scrambling to get back into position.
