Women's Soccer Falls At Emmanuel College

BOSTON, Mass. – Two second half goals carried the Saints of Emmanuel College to a 2-0 non-conference win over women's soccer Tuesday evening at Clemente Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED

In what was a back-and-forth affair through the first 45 minutes of play, quickly turned into a two-goal advantage for the home team.  Just over a minute into the second half, Emmanuel's Mikayla Guthrie ended the scoreless draw off of a Maggie Carey assist.  Four minutes later, the Saints offense struck again, this time with Kayla Generis finding the back of the net.

The Beacons combined for 10 shots in Tuesday's loss, with Julia Masionis (Milford, Mass.) recording four of those chances.  Between the posts, freshman goalkeeper Alyssa Fugiel (Easthampton, Mass.) had another strong showing tallying eight saves. 

For the Saints, Victoria Laroche earned her third win of the year after making eight stops of her own. 

UMass recorded the only two corner kicks in the match, but were unable to drive home a score.

BY THE NUMBERS

  • Tuesday's loss marked the fourth time this season that the Beacons have been shutout
  • All-time the Beacons are now 1-4 against Emmanuel College
