Box Score WILLIMANTIC, Conn. – Led by Adrianna Mihalek's match-high 17 kills, the Warriors of Eastern Connecticut State University ended volleyball's 14 match Little East Conference regular-season win streak with 3-0 decision Saturday afternoon in Francis E. Geissler Gymnasium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Eastern won by scores of 27-25, 26-24, 25-20 in ending an eight-match losing streak at the hands of UMass and becoming the first LEC team to sweep the Beacons since Plymouth State University on October 25, 2011.
Until Saturday, Plymouth had been the last LEC team to defeat UMass Boston in the regular-season, winning in five sets on October 23, 2012 in the final regular-season match of the year. UMB followed with consecutive unbeaten (7-0) regular seasons.
Mihalek scored her 17 kills on 43 attempts, for a match-high .302 hitting percentage. Setters Amanda Tourjee and Leah Sopneski anchored the Warriors offense with a combined 31 assists respectively. Allie Luppi was solid all three sets, as she totaled 32 digs to help carry the Warriors to the win.
Colleen Koen (Centerville, Mass.) and Julia Murphy (Canton, Mass.) combined for 22 kills respectively, with Murphy leading the team with a .280 hitting percentage. Pepper Baker (Tallahassee, Fla.) tallied 30 assists, and junior libero Elizabeth Glavan (Edina, Minn.) came-up with 16 digs as a team. Bri Sousa (Swansea, Mass.) tallied four of the team's 12 block assists.
BY THE NUMBERS
- Today's loss marked the first to Eastern Connecticut since September 22, 2007.
- UMass had not lost a set to the Warriors since October 21 of last season, having won the previous seven meetings by the final of 3-0
- All-time UMass drops to 8-13 against Eastern Connecticut
