BALTIMORE, Md. (Sept. 5, 2026) – UMass Boston rallied past Penn State Altoona in five sets, 25-23, 17-25, 25-22, 24-26, 15-12, at the Newton H. White Center to close out a doubleheader Saturday and improve to 3-1 on the season, with senior OH/RS Paige Coulson (Marriottsville, Md.) delivering a match-best 16 kills and 16 digs to lead the Beacons through a gritty, back-and-forth contest.

Josie Becker (Westchester, Ill.) posted 12 kills on .250 hitting with four total blocks, including six block assists and one solo block, providing a double-edged impact at the net.

Kaitlyn Leberstien (Wilmington, Del.) and Ashlee Wudi (Brookfield, Ill.) each recorded 22 digs — the individual match high — while Leberstien added 14 assists and three aces and Wudi chipped in three aces of her own, with both freshmen delivering in a five-set grind.

Addie Blomgren (Riverside, Ill.) led all Beacons in hitting percentage at .286 (five kills, one error, 14 attempts) and added three total blocks and one service ace. Adele Accelus (Longmeadow, Mass.) matched Becker with six block assists for three total blocks, giving UMass Boston a formidable wall in the middle.
