Beacons Sweep Plattsburgh State on Senior Night, Improve to 5-1

BOSTON, Mass. (Sept. 11, 2026) – The UMass Boston Beacons swept Plattsburgh State 3-0 (25-13, 25-19, 25-19) on Senior Night at Clark Athletic Center, riding a dominant 10-to-1 service ace advantage and a balanced attack to improve to 5-1 on the season and extend their winning streak to three matches.

Set 1 (25-13):

The Beacons set the tone immediately, racing to a commanding lead behind the serving of Ashlee Wudi (Brookfield, Ill.) and a relentless offensive attack led by Mya Perron (Beverly, Mass.). UMass Boston never let Plattsburgh State find its footing, closing out the frame by 12 points.

Set 2 (25-19):

Plattsburgh State tightened the margin, but the Beacons answered every run. Nevaeh Yancey (Dorchester, Mass.) delivered back-to-back service aces late in the set to keep the Cardinals out of system, and Perron's repeated kills — set up by freshman setter Kaitlyn Leberstien (Wilmington, Del.) — kept the pressure relentless. UMass Boston closed it out 25-19.

Set 3 (25-19):

The Beacons sealed the sweep in the third, with Wudi adding to her ace total and Addie Blomgren (Riverside, Ill.) anchoring the net with three total blocks. UMass Boston held Plattsburgh State to 19 points for the second straight set to complete the Senior Night celebration.

  • Perron led all players with 12 kills on 31 attempts, hitting .258, and added five digs for 12 total points — the match high.

  • Paige Coulson (Marriottsville, Md.) contributed eight kills with seven digs, continuing her role as the team's season kills leader (57 on the year).

  • Adele Accelus (Longmeadow, Mass.) was the Beacons' most efficient attacker, posting a .625 hitting percentage — five kills on eight attempts with zero errors — adding a block assist and three digs for 5.5 points.

  • Wudi led the team in both digs (13) and service aces (4), anchoring the back row and fueling the Beacons' 10-to-1 ace advantage over the Cardinals.

  • Blomgren led the match in total blocks with 3.0, including two solo blocks, and added three kills and one service ace for seven total points. Blomgren leads UMass Boston in blocks on the 2026 season with 28.0.

  • Leberstien distributed 14 assists, hit 1.000 on two kills, and added two service aces and eight digs.

  • Junior Audrey Cofield (Ypsilanti, Mich.) posted a double-double with 11 assists and 11 digs. Together, the two setters accounted for all 30 UMass Boston assists.

  • Yancey chipped in two service aces — including consecutive aces late in Set 2 — as part of a freshman class that is becoming a reliable force in the Beacons' rotation alongside Wudi and Leberstien.

  • As a team, UMass Boston recorded 10 service aces to Plattsburgh State's one, hit .182 while holding the Cardinals to .096, and totaled 5.0 blocks to the visitors' 3.0.
