BOSTON, MA (September 4, 2026) — On Monday, August 24, 2026, the UMass Boston community gathered at the scenic Waverly Oaks Golf Club in Plymouth for the 2026 Beacon Club Golf Classic. Golfers, alumni, friends, and supporters took to the greens for a memorable day dedicated to empowering more than 300 UMass Boston student-athletes.
Presented by the Massachusetts Army National Guard, the annual outing brought together community partners and UMass Boston champions for a full day of camaraderie, competition, and philanthropy.
Throughout the 18-hole course, players enjoyed competitive on-course contests, including long-drive and closest-to-the-pin challenges.
Following the tournament, participants gathered in the clubhouse for a post-tournament luncheon, awards ceremony, and silent auction. Vice Chancellor and Director of Athletics, Dr. Jacqui Schuman highlighted the importance of community events like the annual Beacon Club Golf Classic and how the funds raised are crucial for capital improvements, holistic high-performance training, and world class athletic experiences.
Every registration, team entry, and sponsorship directly supports UMass Boston Athletics. The funds raised from the outing provide critical resources, academic support, equipment, and competitive opportunities for over 300 Beacon student-athletes across all varsity programs.
