UMass Boston Athletics Announces Spencer Lindstead as Assistant Director for Facilities, Event Operations, & Game Day Experience

BOSTON, Mass. – University of Massachusetts Boston (UMass Boston) Vice Chancellor, Director of Athletics and Recreation Jacqui Schuman has announced the hiring of Spencer Lindstead as the University's new Assistant Director for Facilities, Event Operations, & Game Day Experience.

Lindstead joins the Beacons after serving as the Assistant Director of Facilities & Operations at the College of the Holy Cross, where he managed daily operations for multiple NCAA Division I athletic venues, coordinated game-day operations, supervised student event staff, and oversaw facility scheduling and maintenance.

His experience managing complex athletic facilities and championship events at both the Division I and Division III levels, combined with his commitment to operational excellence and customer service, make him an outstanding addition to our leadership team. As we continue to elevate the student-athlete experience and invest in our athletics facilities and game-day operations, Spencer's expertise will be instrumental in helping us achieve those goals." 

At Holy Cross, Lindstead managed daily schedules for soccer, lacrosse, and indoor practice facilities while serving as game manager for all men's and women's soccer and lacrosse home contests. He coordinated facility operations, supervised and trained event staff, managed visiting team logistics, and collaborated with vendors and campus partners to support championship-caliber events. 

Prior to Holy Cross, Lindstead served as Event Operations Coordinator at the University of New Hampshire's Whittemore Center Arena. In that role, he managed facility scheduling, coordinated event logistics for a wide range of campus and community groups, oversaw locker room assignments, administered rental contracts and invoicing, and helped ensure successful operations for one of the region's premier athletic venues. 

Lindstead previously spent two years as the Athletic Administration Graduate Assistant at Misericordia University, where he directed game operations for nearly 28 NCAA Division III varsity sports. His responsibilities included supervising event staff, coordinating student workers, managing game-day operations, overseeing technology and facility setup, and serving as the primary liaison for visiting teams. During his tenure, he also helped coordinate numerous special events and leadership development initiatives. 

Among his career highlights, Lindstead has served as tournament manager for the 2024 NCAA Division III Baseball Regional, game manager for Patriot League postseason competition, conference championship events, and several NCAA tournament contests. His experience spans multiple sports and all aspects of athletic event management, facilities, and operations.

Lindstead earned his Master of Business Administration with a concentration in Sport Management from Misericordia University, graduating with a 3.83 GPA. He received his Bachelor of Science in Sport and Recreation Management from Keystone College, where he graduated summa cum laude and was a member of the football program. 

As Assistant Director for Facilities, Event Operations, & Game Day Experience, Lindstead will oversee the management and scheduling of UMass Boston's athletics facilities, coordinate game and event operations for the department's 20 varsity sports, supervise event staff and student employees, and collaborate with campus partners to ensure a first-class experience for student-athletes, coaches, officials, and spectators.
