Annandale-on-Hudson, N.Y. (April 23, 2025) -- UMass Boston men's tennis delivered a decisive 5-2 victory over Bard College on the road Wednesday, sweeping all three doubles matches and dominating at multiple singles spots. The win lifts the Beacons to 8-8 on the season and extends their win streak to two, putting them back at .500 heading into their final regular-season conference match.
Doubles Recap
The Beacons set the tone early by sweeping doubles play to claim the opening point. At No. 1 doubles, William Kubinec (East Boston, Mass.) teamed up with Thomas Ameral (Ellington, Conn.) for a 6-4 victory over Bard's top duo. The pairing of Joseph Malone (South Dennis, Mass.) and James Tiger Li (Quincy, Mass.) secured a tight 7-6 win at No. 2, prevailing 7-1 in the tiebreak. At No. 3, Dominik Dwyer (Dedham, Mass.) and Archer Ou (Malden, Mass.) were dominant, rolling to a 6-1 win. The clean sweep in doubles gave UMass Boston a 1-0 lead heading into singles.

Kubinec continued his impressive day at No. 2 singles, dropping just three games in a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Thanasis Kostikas. Ameral also cruised, blanking his opponent 6-0 in the first set and sealing the win 6-3 in the second at No. 3 singles. At No. 6, Tiger Li turned in the most lopsided score line of the day, winning 6-1, 6-1. Shrenith Saravana Rakshana (Bengaluru, India) secured the Beacons' fourth singles point with a steady 7-5, 6-4 victory at No. 5.
Despite the strong showing, UMass Boston faced tough matches at the top of the lineup. Dominik Dwyer battled at No. 1 singles but fell 3-6, 6-7 (7-9) in a competitive contest. Joseph Malone pushed his match at No. 4 to a deciding match tiebreak but came up just short, dropping a 6-4, 2-6, 0-1 (7-10) decision. Still, the Beacons' depth and resilience across the lineup secured the away victory, marking their second consecutive win and another strong showing on the road.
