Mansfield, Conn. (April 25, 2026) -- The UMass Boston men's tennis team defeated Western Connecticut State, 6-1, on Saturday afternoon to close out the regular season on a winning note.
Match Highlights:
- The Beacons swept the doubles point, winning all three positions. Thomas Ameral (Ellington, Conn.) and William Kubinec (East Boston, Mass.) took down John Araujo and Aidan Burke at No. 1, 6-1, while Mario Pangione (Carver, mass.) and Dominik Dwyer (Dedham, Mass.)Â won at No. 2 over Jose Zambrano and Jack Buck, 6-3. Joseph Malone (South Dennis, Mass.) and James Tiger Li (Quincy, Mass.) edged Henry Gsell and Alex Maldonado at No. 3, 7-6, 7-4.
- In singles, UMass Boston swept five of six flights to secure the victory.Kubinec cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 win over Buck at No. 2, and Ameral took down Zambrano at No. 3, 6-3, 7-5. Alex Maldonado earned a straight-sets win at No. 4 over Pangione, 6-4, 6-1, while Malone won at No. 5 over Araujo, 6-1, 6-1. Shrenith Saravana Rakshana (Bengaluru, India) closed out the match at No. 6 with a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Axel Javier.

The Beacons will make an appearance in the 2026 Little East Conference Men's Tennis Tournament beginning on Tuesday (April 28) against an opponenet to be determined.
