PROVIDENCE, RI (October 5, 2026) – The UMass Boston duo of junior middle blocker
Addie Blomgren (Riverside, Ill.) and first-year setter
Kaitlyn Leberstien (Wilmington, Del.) were each recognized with Little East Conference Weekly honors for their standout performances in a pair of victories last week for the Beacons.
Blomgren was named the LEC Defensive Player of the Week for anchoring the Beacons' front line, collecting 14 total blocks (1.40 per set). Three were solo stops, and 11 were assists. Over 10 sets, she also had 18 kills on a .366 attack clip, nine digs and an ace.
At Western New England on Wednesday, she had seven blocks (one solo, six assisted) in a 3-2 win. She added 14 kills while hitting .500, plus three digs.
Saturday's 3-2 conference win over Rhode Island College brought two solo blocks and five assists, along with four kills, six digs, and an ace.
Leberstien was named the LEC Rookie of the Week, as she tallied 21 kills, 29 assists and 19 digs (2.10, 2.90 and 1.90 per set), hit .320, completed three service aces and added five block assists across 10 sets played.
Her Wednesday performance at Western New England came up just short of a triple-double: 10 kills, 12 assists and nine digs, with a .348 hitting percentage, an ace and two block assists.
She completed the triple-double in Saturday's conference opener against Rhode Island College, with 11 kills, 17 assists and 10 digs. She hit .296 and chipped in two aces and three block assists.
The Beacons volleyball team returns to play on Wednesday, traveling to Gorham, Maine, to take on the University of Southern Maine Huskies in LEC Action. First serve is scheduled for 7:00 PM.
