PROVIDENCE, RI (October 5, 2026) – The Little East Conference named UMass Boston women's soccer sophomore goalkeeper Janiya Morales Matier (North Easton, Mass.) this week's LEC Goalkeeper of the Week for her standout performance in the Beacons' only contest in the previous week.

Against the Western Connecticut State Wolves, Morales Matier made eight stops between the pipes to preserve a 1-0 shutout, her fourth of the season, while keeping the Beacons unbeaten in LEC play.

Morales Matier is currently ranked first in the conference in shutouts (4) , saves per game (6.44), tied for total saves with 58, and remains third in the LEC for goals-against average (0.89). A testament to her form this season as she takes a leap from her first-year to sophomore season.

Morales Matier and the Beacons' women's soccer team return to play Wednesday, October 7 at 6:30 PM as they hit the road to take on the University of Southern Maine Huskies in LEC action.
