KEENE, N.H. (Sept. 26, 2026) — The UMass Boston Beacons (2-4-3, 0-0-1 LEC) battled to a 0-0 draw at Keene State Saturday at the Owl Athletic Complex, earning a resilient point in Little East Conference play behind strong goalkeeping and a relentless attacking effort.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Beacons controlled much of the attacking play, outshooting the Owls 16-8 and holding a 5-2 edge in corner kicks across a full 90 minutes of regulation. UMass Boston generated eight shots in each half, keeping consistent pressure on Keene State's net throughout. The Owls, entering the match at 3-4-2 overall and 1-1-1 in the LEC, matched that defensive resolve and made the most of their limited chances to keep the scoreline level.
Sophomore goalkeeper Janiya Morales Matier (North Easton, Mass.) was steady between the posts for the full 90 minutes, making five saves to preserve the clean sheet. Her most critical moment came in the 86th minute, when she denied Elise Saab's bottom-center shot to keep the match scoreless late. Morales Matier's composure under pressure proved decisive as Keene State pushed for a winner in the closing stages.
Junior Devan Booth (Manchester, N.H.) was the Beacons' most dangerous attacking force, leading all players with five shots and four shots on goal across the full 90 minutes. Her persistent pressure tested Keene State first-year goalkeeper Michaela DiCicco repeatedly.
The match's most dramatic moment came in the 73rd minute, when junior Daniella Celotto (Prospect, Conn.) struck the top of the woodwork — the closest either side came to breaking the deadlock. First-year Camryn Trick (Sammamish, Wash.) also made her presence felt from the back line, contributing three shots and two shots on goal while playing the full 90 minutes, adding an attacking dimension to UMass Boston's defensive structure.
Keene State committed 17 fouls to the Beacons' 13. Despite the physicality, the Beacons maintained their composure and continued to create chances through the final whistle.
