BOSTON, Mass. (January 15, 2026) – The (RV) UMass Boston men's ice hockey team (9-4-0, 4-2 LEC) returns home this weekend for a pair of significant Little East Conference matchups, hosting Southern Maine on Friday night and No. 10 Babson on Saturday afternoon at the Edward T. Barry Ice Rink.
The Beacons enter the weekend on a six-game winning streak and have won seven of their last eight contests as the LEC standings continue to take shape.
Friday, January 9 – UMass Boston vs. Southern Maine
Southern Maine arrives in Boston leading the LEC standings with a 5-1-1 conference record, coming off one-goal victories over Plymouth State and New England College last weekend.
First-year forward Ben Aucoin leads the Huskies with 13 goals, while seniors John Hagan and Conor Donovan have also reached double figures in points this season. In net, freshman Loïc Morin has handled the majority of the workload, posting a goals-against average under 3.00 with a .915 save percentage.
Friday's meeting marks the first matchup between the two programs since last season's finale, when Southern Maine defeated UMass Boston 5–4. The Huskies will also face junior winger Matthew Sullivan, who transferred to UMass Boston after spending last season at Southern Maine. Sullivan currently leads the Beacons with nine assists.
Saturday, January 10 – UMass Boston vs. No. 10 Babson
UMass Boston will close the weekend against No. 10 Babson, marking the Beacons' lone home game this season against a USCHO Top-15 opponent. The Beavers enter the weekend after a 2–1 loss to New England College and will be playing the second night of a back-to-back following a road game at UMass Dartmouth on Friday.
Babson is led offensively by junior Jimmy Fallon, who paces the team with 19 points, and sophomore transfer Evan Brown, who is close behind with 18. In goal, senior Nate Mueller has started 11 games and owns a 1.76 goals-against average with a .930 save percentage.
Babson has won five straight meetings against UMass Boston and holds a 51-21-6 advantage in the all-time series.

UMass Boston enters the weekend on its strongest run of the season, riding a six-game winning streak and having received votes in the USCHO Poll for the first time this year.
In goal, Alex Koenig and Connor McDonough have split time and both carry save percentages above .930, combining to allow 2.06 goals per game.
