BOSTON, MA (May 21, 2025) – UMass Boston junior hurdler Aryianna Garceau (Dalton, Mass.) is set to cap off a remarkable 2025 outdoor season at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships this weekend, hosted at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio. This marks Garceau's third career appearance on the national stage, following her All-American finish at the 2024 Outdoor Championships and her National Title in the 60m hurdles at the 2025 NCAA DIII Indoor Championships in March.
"We're looking to do something special this weekend," said Beacons Head Coach Ozzie Brown on Wednesday ahead of the NCAA Championships. "Ary has put in long, arduous hours of preparation, and she is primed and ready to run extremely fast. We're all exhilarated for what's to come."
Garceau enters the championship as the nation's top-ranked hurdler in the 100m hurdles, following a record-setting performance at the NEICAAA All-New England Championships on May 10. There, she clocked a wind-aided 13.53 seconds (+2.3)—a new personal best that shattered her own school record of 13.75, set just one week prior at the DIII New England Championships. Her time ranks as the third-fastest in Division III history under all conditions.
Her national debut came just last year at the 2024 Outdoor Championships in South Carolina, where she advanced to the finals after a 13.97-second run in prelims. Despite a weather delay before the final, she earned her first All-American honor with a sixth-place finish in 14.05.
Garceau returned this season with championship ambitions and a firm eye on the DIII record books. She delivered in March at the 2025 NCAA Indoor Championships in Rochester, N.Y., where she became a national champion and meet record holder in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.35 seconds—the second-fastest mark in Division III history.
Now, Garceau looks to further cement her place among UMass Boston's all-time greats. With her sights set on the DIII outdoor record, she also hopes to join elite company—Wadeline Jonathas '18 and Genesia Eddins '88—as the only Beacons in program history to win back-to-back national championships in the same academic year.
Garceau is scheduled to compete in the preliminary round on Friday, May 23 at 2:30 p.m. The top eight finishers will advance as All-Americans to the finals heat on Saturday, May 24 at 2:00 p.m.
