PROVIDENCE, R.I. (February 18, 2025) – The Little East Conference announced their weekly track and field recognitions for the eighth time in the 2024-25 indoor track and field season. The Beacons' junior hurdler Aryianna Garceau (Dalton, Mass.) owned the award this season, capping off a historic run with her seventh consecutive LEC Runner of the Week Award for her performances at the Boston University Valentine Invitational on Saturday, Feb. 15.
On Saturday at BU, Garceau represented the Beacons in two events, her primary 60m hurdles, and a secondary 200m dash. In the 60m hurdles, Garceau ran 8.82 in preliminaries, followed by an 8.69s finish in finals for a second-place finish at the event.
In the 200m dash, Garceau dropped a hefty new personal record, finishing around the BU bank in 24.75 seconds, the fastest 200m time for UMass Boston since Wadeline Jonathas' record set back in 2018 (23.90s). She surpassed her previous career-high by nearly seven tenths of a second, a giant margin in terms of sprinting events.
With her performance on Saturday, Garceau still ranks number-one in the nation for NCAA DIII in the 60m hurdles, and is now 14th in the nation in the 200m dash, as the junior makes another stride towards finishing a historic season on a high note.
In eight weeks of competition and eight rounds of LEC weekly awards, Garceau competed seven times and earned the weekly nod each time, going seven for eight this season.
Garceau and company will compete at the 2025 LEC Indoor Track and Field Championships this Saturday, Feb. 22 in Providence, R.I. at Rhode Island College.
