PROVIDENCE, R.I. (October 27, 2025) – For the first time in his UMass Boston career, junior defender Ryan Doherty (Quincy, Mass.) has been named the Little East Conference Defensive Player of the Week following a strong 1-0-1 stretch for the Beacons men's soccer team.

In Wednesday's 2-2 draw at Southern Maine, Doherty provided late-game heroics, netting the equalizer in the 88th minute to secure a valuable point on the road. He followed that performance with another crucial contribution on Saturday, scoring the opening goal just eight minutes in to set the tone in a 3-0 win over Plymouth State.

Doherty and the Beacons return to action this Wednesday (Oct. 29) at 12:00 p.m. from the BC High JV Fields, hosting UMass Dartmouth in the final match of the regular season.
