Garceau Sets New School Record at the Suffolk Ice Breaker

BOSTON, MA (January 11, 2025) – Beacons' junior 60m hurdler Aryianna Garceau (Dalton, Mass.) set back-to-back personal records at the Suffolk Ice Breaker Invitational, with an 8.76s finish in preliminaries and an 8.65s in finals, to break her previous school record of 8.79s set on December 8, 2024, at the Beacons' Season Opener.

How it Happened:
  • Garceau's 8.65 in finals was fast enough to give her second overall in the event, placing just 0.06 seconds behind Havard's (NCAA Division I) 60m hurdler, who finished in 8.59 seconds.
  • She outpaced six other NCAA DI hurdlers, Including Harvard's second 60m hurdler by 0.01s, UMass Lowell's (NCAA DI) entry (8.85), and four Sacred Heart University (NCAA DI) hurdlers.
By The Numbers:
  • 8.65s is suitable for a 0.14s new personal record set just over four weeks ago during Garceau's 2024 indoor opener. As of January 11, 2025, Garceau's 8.76 and 8.65 rank Garceau first in the nation according to TFRRS | 2024-2025 NCAA Division III Indoor Qualifying, pending Saturday's completed compiled results.

With NCAA DIII Indoor National Championships in Rochester set just nine weeks away, Garceau is eyeing another national performance this winter based on her season progression and current national rank.

What's Next:
  • The Beacons' track and field team will travel to Waltham, MA, next weekend, January 18, for the Reggie Payou Memorial Invitational hosted by Brandies University. Complete meet information will be available in the coming week.
