How it Happened
- The Engineers opened up scoring in the early embers of the game, as their senior playmaker Olivia Toolin took the Beacons' junior goalkeeper Julia Cote (Baldwinville, Mass.) by surprise. Cote was a wall for the remainder of the game, keeping the Beacons within striking distance for the next 80 minutes.
- With the Beacons facing an early deficit, first-year forward Sofia Schallmo (Norwood, Mass.) was hot on the heels of netting an equalizer just ten minutes following the opening goal. Her shot from outside the box was blocked by a hand, forcing a penalty kick Schallmo ultimately put away for the game's final goal.
By the Numbers
- Together, the two teams shot a cumulative 40 shots, with the Beacons putting seven on target compared to WPI's nine.
- Schallmo keeps the fire burning, as her recent form has seen three goals in as many games to go along with five assists. Against the Engineers, Schallmo adds another goal, leading the offense with eight total shots, with 50% on target.
- Cote adds eight saves from tonight's effort to her season totals, bringing them to 37 with a .822% save percentage against 77 shots faced. She is still an undefeated 4-0-2 this season.
