SALEM, Mass. (Oct. 20, 2026) – The UMass Boston Beacons women's soccer team (5-5-5) had quality chances throughout, but settled for a 0-0 draw against the Salem State Vikings (2-7-5) in a non-conference match on Tuesday evening at Alumni Field.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Early shots from
Camryn Trick (Sammamish, Wash.) and
Daniella Celotto (Prospect, Conn.) were turned away by Salem State goalie Lauren Wilson in the third and fifth minutes. The Beacons continued to mount the pressure offensively but were unable to find the back of the net and goalie
Adel Wells (Austin, Texas) denied two Vikings' chances in the late stages of the first half as things remained scoreless.
UMass Boston recorded a total of 14 shots in the second half and perhaps the best chance came in the 72
nd minute when a shot from
Lorelai Leddy (West Greenwich, R.I.) rang off the crossbar. Both goalies stood tall in the final 45 minutes as Wells tallied three saves for the Beacons and Wilson made seven for the Vikings in the scoreless draw.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
Wells made her first career start and posted the clean sheet with five saves across 90 minutes of action.
Head coach
Amy Zombeck's team held a decisive 23-7 edge in shots behind eight from Celotto including six on target and three from Leddy.
Wilson tallied 14 saves for Salem State.
Tuesday's match continued a string of strong defensive play for UMass Boston who has registered six shutouts in their last seven matches dating back to Sept. 26.
This marked the first meeting between the two programs since Sept. 13, 2021.
