BOSTON, Mass. (Oct 28, 2026) — The UMass Boston Beacons (6-6-5, 5-2-1 LEC) dropped a hard-fought 1-0 decision to UMass Dartmouth (6-8-2, 3-4-1 LEC) in a Little East Conference matchup on Senior Day at James Cotter Field on Wednesday, Oct. 28. Despite generating sustained offensive pressure and holding a commanding 6-2 edge in shots on goal, the Beacons were unable to find the back of the net against a sharp performance from Corsair goalkeeper Emma Juelis, who turned away all six UMass Boston attempts to preserve the shutout.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The first half was the decisive period. UMass Boston came out with intent — Camryn Trick (Sammamish, Wash.) forced an early save from Juelis in the ninth minute with a shot aimed at the top left, and Allie Kondash (Uncasville, Conn.) added a shot on goal in the 35th minute off the bench.
The Corsairs, however, broke the deadlock in the 39th minute when Kiariana Williams converted with assists from Anna Keller and Natalie Frazier to make it 1-0. Keller was shown a yellow card at 39:16, moments after recording the assist.
The Beacons went into the half trailing 1-0 despite holding a 6-1 edge in shots through the opening 45 minutes.
The second half saw UMass Boston continue to press. Cloe Kapetanakos (Weymouth, Mass.) forced a save from Juelis in the 66th minute, and Daniella Celotto (Prospect, Conn.) tested the Corsair goalkeeper twice more — at 72:07 and again in the 81st minute, when her shot to the bottom right was turned aside to keep the margin at one. The Beacons could not find the equalizer.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
Celotto led all UMass Boston players with three shots and three shots on goal across 84 minutes, consistently challenging Juelis and generating the Beacons' most dangerous looks. Through eight games this season, she leads the team with four goals, three assists, 38 shots and 22 shots on goal. Janiya Morales Matier (North Easton, Mass.) played the full 90 minutes in goal for UMass Boston, making one save — stopping a first-half chance from Emilie Trainque — and conceding only the Williams goal. Trick logged the full 90 minutes and contributed on both ends, while Kapetanakos added 78 minutes of work and kept the pressure on UMass Dartmouth deep into the second half. The result leaves UMass Boston 4-2-2 heading into the postseason, with the Beacons having outshot their opponents in a match that came down to a single converted chance and an exceptional goalkeeping display from Juelis, who finished with six saves.
UP NEXT:
With the result, the Beacons conclude the 2026 LEC Regular Season with an overall record of 6-6-5, and a conference record of 5-2-1, good for 16 points and the LEC two-seed heading into this year's tournament. With the two-seeded finish, the Beacons earn a first-round bye, and will face the winner between Western Connecticut State (LEC #3) and Keene State (LEC #6), taking place on Saturday, Oct. 31. The semifinals matchup will take place at the James Cotter Field on Wednesday, Nov. 4 at 7:00 PM.
