BOSTON, MA (May 22, 2024) – The Beacons' graduate midfielder and team captain
Luke Murphy has been selected for the 2024 United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) Division III Senior All-Star Game for the 2024 DIII North Team as the sole representative of the Little East Conference.
Murphy will represent UMass Boston as a midfielder for the DIII North Senior All-Star team on Friday, May 24, at 4:00 pm as he travels to Widener University in Chester, PA. Murphy joins
Gavin Admirand,
Darragh Fahey, and
Jason McNeany as the fourth Beacon in the last four seasons to represent UMass Boston in the event. The North and South DIII Senior All-Star teams consist of talented seniors from DIII universities across the Northern and Southern United States.
Murphy finished the season with 25 goals and 25 assists for 46 points in the 2024 season. Murphy also secured 59 ground balls and caused 22 turnovers as one of the Little East Conference's premiere two-way athletes. Following the 2024 LEC postseason tournament, Murphy was recognized with All-Conference Second Team.
Murphy adds DIII North All-Star to a long list of notables and recognitions. Last season in 2023, on top of being named team captain for the season, Murphy took home his second All-LEC First Team, and USILA Preseason All-American Honors, and finished with 99 season points, good for top 30 in program history. The season before, in 2022, Murphy received his first USILA All-American Honorable Mention following a 29 point season through 16 goals and 13 assists. In his junior season in 2022, Murphy was also named All-LEC First Team for the first time in his career, on top of LEC Spring All-Academic Team honors.
