BOSTON, MA (March 21, 2024) – The UMass Boston women's track and field team swept the Little East Conference's weekly awards for the week of March 10
th, to March 16
th for their performances at the Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational from Myrtle Beach South Carolina, during their Spring Break road trip.
First-year
Hialeah Foster earned the LEC's Rookie of the Week honors for finishing ninth in both the women's high jump (1.53m) and the women's long jump (5.04m) which currently ranks her top 30 in the nation in the long jump.
Sophomore
Aryianna Garceau was recognized as the LEC Women's Track Athlete of the Week for fifth in the 100m hurdles with a time of 14.79s, and for finishing 23
rd in the 200m with a finishing time of 25.92s. Her mark in the 100m hurdles currently has her at fifth in NCAA DIII, while her 200m mark has her tied at a nation's 28
th best.
The Beacons 4x400m relay team consisting of Garceau,
Grace Colon,
Harleen Bassan, and Sarah Cambell takes home the LEC's Relay Team of the Week award for finishing 17
th at the Alan Connie Shamrock with a 4:38.54s finish, for a mark that currently has them at fifth in New England.
The Beacons women's track and field team takes back the spotlight on March 30, from Tufts University in Medford, MA as they take on the Tufts University Snowflake Classic.
