BOSTON, MA (February 20, 2024) – The Little East Conference announced their 2023-24 All-Conference selections following the LEC Championship meet from the University of Southern Maine, on Saturday February 17. Athletes competing in the LEC Track and Field Championships are awarded LEC All-Conference for placing top three overall in a respective event, or in the event of a tie, is awarded to the top winners in a respected event.
On the men's side, the sole representative for the UMass Boston men's indoor track and field team was junior
Cody Witthun, as his new personal record of 1:25.11 in the 600m dash put him on the podium in third place, good for LEC All-Conference Third Team in the 600m dash.
The women's indoor track and field team hosts eight LEC All-Conference Nominations through four different athletes. Junior sprinter
Dorinda Okorji left the LEC Championships with a medal of each variant, as she took 1st overall for First-Team All-LEC in the 55m dash with a winning time of 7.32, followed by a silver medal and Second-Team All-LEC in the women's high jump with a new personal best jump of 1.56m (5' 1.25"), and capped off with a bronze medal and a Third-Team All-LEC honor for the women's long jump with a best of 5.09m (16' 8.25"). Aryianna Garceau took home the gold in the 55m dash with a new personal record in the 55m hurdles with an 8.26 winning time. The Beacons' first-year combo sprinter and jumper
Hialeah Foster earned LEC All-Rookie in two events, on top of an All-LEC Second-Team recognition, as she took seventh in the 55m (7.87) to earn All-Rookie for the short sprints event, followed by All-Rookie and a shared silver medal with her teammate Okorji in the women's high jump (1.56m). Sophomore distance runner
Jacqueline Earner earned All-LEC Second Team for her silver medal finish in the women's mile, as she covered the distance in 5:21.71. Lastly, junior distance runner
Grace Colon earned All-LEC Third Team for her bronze medal finish in the women's 5k, as her new personal record of 19:07.36 was enough for Colon to attend the podium party.
The Beacons' select qualifiers will continue their season next Sunday, February 25 at the TRACK at New Balance in Boston Massachusetts as the Beacons take on the Division III New England Regional Meet.
