BOSTON, MA (October 31, 2024) – The Beacons' cross-country team will finish out the fall season on Saturday, November 2, from North Dartmouth, Massachusetts, at the 2024 Little East Conference Cross Country Championship. The women's race begins at 11:00 a.m., followed by the men's race at noon.
Last season at the LEC Championships, the men finished eighth out of nine teams, and the women finished sixth out of nine teams. The top finishers for the Beacons a year ago included Jaqueline Earner (Abington, Mass.),
Grace Colon (West Roxbury, Mass.) and Sarah Cambell were the top finishers on the women's side, led by Colon with a 20:05.9 finish, good for 11
th overall out of 70 competitors. Right behind Colon waws Earner with 20:20.9 and a 12 place finish. For the men's side, Robert Cannon (Quincy, Mass.) led the way for UMass Boston with a 28:18.0 finish for a 35 overall finish.
Each top finisher from last season returns for another go in 2024, this time under new head coach
Ozzie Brown. Cannon has been a consistent leader for the men's team this season, finishing in the top spot for the Beacons in every race. Colon and Earner have steadily improved with the help of junior
Shea Roche (Weymouth, Mass.). Roche was the top finisher for UMass Boston at the Keene State Invitational on October 5, as her presence elevated the competitive spirit within the unit throughout the season.
