BOSTON, Mass. - Another impressive weekend on the ice earned a trio of weekly honors from the New England Hockey Conference for UMass Boston's Men's and Women's Ice Hockey teams, the league announced on Monday. From the women's side, senior forward
Katie Wilbert earned co-Player of the Week honors for her breakout performance. Meanwhile, the men's team earned a pair of recognitions in the form of
Sam Best's third Goalie of the Week award of the season and
Conor Foley's first appointment to the weekly honor roll.
Entering the weekend with just one goal to six assists on the season, Wilbert went off for a pair of goals on six shots against Salem State on Friday and the game-winning score in a 2-1 victory over Southern Maine on Saturday. The Pittsburgh, Pa. native is now the leader in the clubhouse with 10 points and a +2 rating on the year.
Best secured his second straight Goalie of the Week recognition, following up a shutout of nationally-ranked Norwich with a 39 save performance against Southern Maine. He played all 60 minutes while letting up just one goal for the fourth time this season, lowering his goals allowed average to 2.88 on the year.Â
Foley joined his netminder on the honor roll after helping the Beacons bolster their power play percentage over the weekend road trip. He scored a player-up goal apiece against Babson and Southern Maine, and secured a third point with a power play assist against the Huskies. Now the team's second-leading point scorer with 11 on the year, Foley also continued his dominance in the faceoff circle winning 14 of 25 in each game over the weekend.
