WESTON, Mass. – For the second straight week, it was freshman
Kaitlyn Chirkis who quite literally threw herself into scoring position for UMass Boston Women's Track and Field, accumulating 10 points across two throwing events on Thursday afternoon at the Regis Spring Classic.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Chirkis recorded a personal best of 32.33 meters in the Women's Javelin, finishing in second place just two meters off the mark of Monica McLaughlin from Maine-Presque Isle who won the event. In her Women's Discus debut, the freshman tacked on two more points with a fifth-place finish after a 29.67-meter throw.
Sophomore Mackenzie Jorgensen made her 2023 outdoor track and field debut in the Women's Pole Vault, leaping to a fourth-place finish in a mark of 2.30 meters to grab three more points for the Beacons.
Junior veteran
Charlotte Millette notched her first points of the season as well, earning a single point in the Women's 400 Meter Hurdles after placing sixth overall in a time of 1:20.45 in the event.
The final eight points of the day would go to freshmen
Jacqueline Earner and
Harleen Bassan in the Women's 800 Meter Run. Earner would finish fourth in a time of 2:33.27 to earn four points while Bassan tallied one point with a 2:41.59 time which placed her sixth.

UMass Boston gets ready for the Jim Sheehan Memorial Invite hosted by Fitchburg State University on Saturday morning. The meet is set to kick off at 10:00 AM.
