DARTMOUTH, Mass. – For the second time this year, it was freshman
Jacqueline Earner taking home the Women's 800 Meter Run at the Little East Conference Championship for Women's Track and Field. Earner won the event during the indoor track championship and again on Saturday at UMass Dartmouth in the outdoor track championship with a time of 2:26.17.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Both the men and women competed for UMass Boston at the LEC Championship hosted by UMass Dartmouth which saw the men finish eighth with nine points while the women placed seventh with 43 team points.
For the men, it was the Cannon brothers leading the way with all nine points as graduate
Jimmy Cannon placed second in the Men's 5,000 Meter Run with a time of 15:29.90 which was just under 20 seconds behind senior Ryan Escoda from Eastern Connecticut State University who won the event. Freshman
Rob Cannon also had a top finish that pulled in another point for the Beacons as he placed sixth in the Men's 10,000 Meter Run with a time of 34:04.74.
The season of gradual improvement was on full display on the women's side beyond Earner's victory in the Women's 800 Meter Run as fellow freshman
Aryianna Garceau had another top finish in the Women's 100 Meter Hurdles to give UMass Boston eight team points. Garceau, who has qualified for Division III New Englands in the event, placed second with a time of 15.55 seconds which was just .36 seconds away from beating sophomore Jaiden Andrews from UMass Dartmouth. The freshman also scored a point each in the Women's 100 Meter Run and in the Women's Long Jump with a pair of sixth-place finishes in a time of 13.33 seconds and height of 15 feet, four inches respectively.
Alongside Garceau, sophomore
Dorinda Okorji competed in the Women's Long Jump, placing fourth with a height of 15 feet, 8.75 inches to notch four team points. Okorji was part of the Women's 4x400 Relay team including freshmen
Harleen Bassan,
Abigail Schell, and Earner, that came in fifth to earn two points with a time of 4:50.53.
Sophomore
Grace Colon continues to make strides for the Beacons as she placed third in the Women's 10,000 Meter Run with a time of 42:03.18 to net UMass Boston another six points towards their team total.
Newcomers to the Women's 3,000 Meter Steeplechase in sophomore
Elia Velez and
Abigail Schell finished back-to-back in fourth and fifth place to combine for six more Beacon points. Velez crossed the line with a time of 13:56.82 while Schell finished in 17:03.82 in the event. Velez was also part of the Women's 4x800 Relay team that featured Colon and juniors
Charlotte Millette as well as
Rachel Green which placed sixth in a time of 11:41.33 to earn another point for UMass Boston.
Rounding out the scoring for the women was freshman Raquel Batista Viera who burst onto the UMass Boston scene this spring as a thrower. Batista Viera placed sixth in the Women's Discus, her lone event of the meet, earning a single point with a distance of 104 feet, three inches.
