WESTON, Mass. – A slow start to the season has quickly picked up for UMass Boston Women's Track and Field as they continue to build momentum heading into next weekend's Little East Conference Championship after three different Beacon athletes won events while seven different athletes placed in the top three at the Regis College meet on Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
A day after finishing second in the Women's 100 Meter Run, freshman
Aryianna Garceau captured the title while also recording a personal best in the event with a 13.10 second finish. The freshman also competed in the Women's Long Jump, recording a leap of 14-feet, 6.5 inches which placed her third overall.
Winning her first event of the season, freshman Angelina Mazzone won the Women's 400 Meter Run with a time of 1:08.17 while junior teammate
Charlotte Millette was close behind in sixth place just four seconds off the pace with a time of 1:12.22.
Freshman
Jacqueline Earner would win the Women's 800 Meter Run for the first time during the outdoor season, notching a personal best finish at 2:27.19 for the win while fellow freshman
Harleen Bassan took home fourth place at 2:39.44, both times were personal bests for the runners.
It was points galore in the Women's 5,000 Meter Run as sophomores
Grace Colon and
Sarah Campbell alongside junior
Rachel Green all registered finishes in the top 10 with their respective positions being third, seventh, and eighth.
Competing in the Women's 3,000 Meter Steeplechase for the first time, sophomore
Elia Velez placed third overall to earn six points for the Beacons with a time of 13:59.66.
For the second straight day, sophomore
Dorinda Okorji won the Women's High Jump, reaching a mark of four feet, seven inches to take her second victory of the season in the event in as many days.
Freshman throwers Raquel Batista Viera and
Kaitlyn Chirkis made some noise in the Women's Discus as Batista Viera finished second overall with a 105-foot, nine-inch throw while Chirkis placed seventh with a 95-foot, 6-inch launch. Chirkis followed up her performance with a second-place finish in the Women's Javelin with a distance of 98 feet, one inch.

UMass Boston will begin preparations for the Little East Conference Championships set to take place next Saturday starting at 10:00 AM.
