NORTHAMPTON, Mass. – In their final meet before the Little East Conference Championship next weekend at Plymouth State University, UMass Boston Women's Indoor Track put up some of their best performances of the season at the Westfield State Invitational at Smith College on Saturday afternoon, placing third out of the five teams who attended the meet.
Headlining the day was freshman
Jacqueline Earner and
Abigail Schell. Earner won the Women's 800 Meter Dash event in a time of 2:28.06, a personal best this season for the freshman who won by just over a second while Schell took the Women Weight Throw with a distance of 9.54 meters.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Freshman
Aryianna Garceau started off the day with a top finish in the Women's 60 Meter Dash Preliminaries, finishing in 8.09 seconds before placing third in the finals with a time of 8.29 seconds, netting her team four points. The freshman also competed in the Women's 60 Meter Hurdles finishing in third with a time of 9.73 seconds, a personal best on the season.
Also netting points for UMass Boston was sophomore
Harleen Bassan who placed fifth in the Women's 400 Meter Dash in a time of 1:05.24, adding one point to the team total. This was Bassan's first time running the event this season.
Placing third in the Women's 1,000 Meter Run was sophomore
Grace Colon in 3:54.16 to add four points to the Beacons' overall total for the afternoon.
In the Women's 4x200 Meter Relay, the team of freshman
Delaney Sartwell, Ally Albano,
Abigail Schell, and junior
Cayla Jean-Louis placed second with a time of 2:27.16 in the event.
Freshman
Kaitlyn Chirkis recorded her highest placement in the Women's Shot Put this season, placing second with a distance of 8.58 meters while Jean-Louis and Sartwell placed fourth and fifth with distances of 8.52 meters and 8.25 meters respectively for the Beacons.
