BOSTON, Mass. - A doubleheader apiece for UMass Boston's Men's and Women's Ice Hockey teams saw both squads secure points in the NEHC standings.
Jack Mortson,
Kevin Sadovski, and
Leah Bosch each earned honor roll recognitions from the conference for their contributions on the ice, the league office announced on Monday. Mortson was also named the NEHC Rookie of the Week.
After a quiet opening stint a week ago, Mortson came into the weekend ready to make noise for his new team. The freshman from Detroit, Michigan had a goal in each game and added an assist in Saturday's 7-1 win over Vermont State Castleton. His two goals on four shots are tied with
Owen Bourdow for the best shooting percentage on the team. Mortson's +5 rating is the best on the roster through four games.
One of the Beacons' newest transfers, Sadovski had a coming out party to remember in Castleton on Saturday. He scored the game's opening goal and the eventual game-winner in the first eight-plus minutes. He added an assist in the second period, joining teammate
Chris Repmann as the only Beacons with a three-point game this season.
Honored as the NEHC Goalie of the Week in the first week of the season, Bosch followed up with another applause-worthy performance. Playing in relief on Friday, she saved a pair of shots while letting up one goal. On Saturday, she played 65 minutes in net for the second time this season, saving 23 shots while allowing just one goal to secure a 1-1 draw with Vermont State Castleton.
