Men's and Women's Cross Country Compete at NCAA Division III East Regional

BRUNSWICK, Maine – Rounding out their 2022 season, UMass Boston Men's and Women's Cross Country traveled to Brunswick, Maine for the NCAA Division III East Regional on Saturday morning hosted by Bowdoin College. The women would finished 31st out of 35 teams in the meet while the men followed finishing 25th out of 33 competing teams.

THE BASICS

HOW IT HAPPENED 
 
Women's Cross Country
Freshman Jacqueline Earner led the way for the Beacons in the 6K event posting a 27:28:70 and finishing in 144th place. Fellow freshman Angelina Mazzone finished less than 30 seconds behind Earner in a time of 27:54:30 which gave her 162nd in the meet.

Freshman Harleen Bassan was the third UMass Boston runner to cross the line in 28:44:80, placing 180th overall while freshmen Sarah Campbell and Aryianna Garceau finished back-to-back in 192nd and 193rd with times of 29:17:20 and 29:20:90 respectively.

Juniors Rachel Green and Charlotte Millette rounded out the women for UMass Boston with Green placing 205th in 30:17:70 and Millette earned 215th in 31:36:60.
 
Men's Cross Country
Running the 8K event, UMass Boston was once again led by graduate student Jimmy Cannon who placed just outside of the All-Region team with a 40th place finish and time of 27:03:30.

Wrapping up a stellar freshman season, Robery Cannon placed 92nd in the race, crossing second for the Beacons in a time of 28:47:00.

Sophomore Zeph Alvarado was the third UMass Boston runner to finish in a time of 30:52:50, earning him 161st place in the race.

Juniors Christopher Druding and Sami Mezrouh were the final two Beacons to round out the day for UMass Boston with Druding placing 196th in 32:31:80 while Mezrouh came in 215th with a time of 33:55:00.
