All-LEC First Team: Midfielder Annilson DePina
Earning All-Little East Conference First Team honors, sophomore midfielder
Annilson DePina has played in all 19 games up to this point for the Beacons. DePina has scored three goals this season while recording two assists and eight points. The Dorchester, Massachusetts native has been a staple for the Beacon offensive middle of the field, using his speed to work the ball to the forward tandem of
Josh DeAlmeida and freshman forward
Ryan Lima,
Nick Braganca, and
Luan Cruz. DePina also recorded the bye-clinching goal for UMass Boston against Keene State, scoring in the first four minutes of the match to secure the two seed for the Beacons in the LEC Tournament.
All-LEC Second Team: Defender Diego Gisholt
One of three All-Little East Conference Second Team players, sophomore defender
Diego Gisholt was a fixture in the backfield for the UMass Boston defense. The sophomore played in 18 games, starting 17 of them while recording two goals, three assists, and seven points. Offensively, Gisholt has been known as the setup man, taking a majority of the Beacon corner kicks during the 2022 campaign. On the defensive end, his presence in the backfield has helped lead UMass Boston to a 1.11 goals against average while making a plethora of stops throughout the season and especially in the Little East Conference Tournament in key moments to prevent Eastern Connecticut and WestConn from having quality scoring chances.
All-LEC Second Team: Forward Josh DeAlmeida
The leading goal scorer for the Beacons this season, junior forward
Josh DeAlmeida played in all 19 games while starting 17 games for UMass Boston. DeAlmeida has recorded a career-high nine goals to go along with one assist and 19 points throughout the season. The forward's best game of the season came in the most crucial moments of the Little East Conference Tournament Semifinals against Eastern Connecticut State University. Trailing 3-2 in overtime, DeAlmeida netted a goal off a
Diego Gisholt corner in the 98th minute and then headed home the eventual game-winning goal in the second overtime frame to lead the Beacons to the LEC Championship with a 4-3 victory.
All-LEC Second Team: Midfielder Cristian Suvak
Senior midfielder
Cristian Suvak, a two-year member of the UMass Boston Men's Soccer team, manned the midfield for the Beacons in 16 games, 15 of which he started. Suvak was named the Most Outstanding Player in the 2022 Little East Conference Tournament and has recorded two assists and two points this fall for UMass Boston. The senior has played 1,372 minutes for the Beacons.
