Men's Cross Country Michael Vesci, Sports Information Assistant

Men's and Women's Cross Country Compete in Little East Conference Championship Meet


BOSTON, Mass. – Hosting the Men's and Women's Little East Conference Cross Country Championships at Franklin Park on Saturday afternoon, UMass Boston Men's Cross Country finished 6th as a team while Women's Cross Country placed 7th.

Team Results – 6th Out of 8 Teams (2:30:14, 156 Points) – Men's Team

HOW IT HAPPENED 
 
Women's Cross Country
The Women's Cross Country team started off the day with the 5K event with freshman Jacqueline Earner leading the way for the Beacons in 19th overall with a time of 21:39:80, breaking her personal best of 21:45:88 set at the Keene State Invitational this year.

The next Beacon to cross the line would be freshman Angelina Mazzone in 23:08:40 in 43rd overall with fellow freshman Harleen Bassan right behind her in 44th with a time of 23:29:40, a new personal best which broke her 23:56:45 set at the Keene State Invitational.

Finishing back-to-back in 49th and 50th were freshman Aryianna Garceau in 24:07:70 and junior Rachel Green in a time of 24:14:90.

Freshman Sarah Campbell and Charlotte Millette took home the next two spots for the Beacons, coming in 56th and 57th place with times of 25:12:40 and 25:22:40 respectively.

Rounding out the UMass Boston women was the freshman trio of Abigail Schell (29:50:90) and Delaney Sartwell (32:13:70) who set personal bests, and Lali Arceo-Graniel (32:22:20) running in her first collegiate event.
 
Men's Cross Country
In the 8K event held for the men, UMass Boston was led by two-time Runner of the Week Jimmy Cannon who placed 4th overall in the meet with a time of 26:33:00 and close behind him in 22nd overall was freshman Rob Cannon in 27:40:70.

Finishing in 53rd and 55th place was sophomore Zeph Alvarado in a time of 30:32:40 and junior Christopher Druding in 30:39:40.

The fifth and final runner for the Beacons to cross was junior Sami Mezrouh in 74th place with a time of 34:48:10.

With the 4th place finish, Jimmy Cannon earned a spot on the All-Little East Conference First Team for the 2022 season. 
 
WHAT'S NEXT  
 
The Beacons will compete in the NCAA East Regional Championship meet at Bowdoin College on November 12th at 9:00 AM.
