HOW IT HAPPENED

After UMass Boston took a 3-2 lead into the first intermission, Hobart scored five goals in the second period, including three goals in the final 6:52 of the stanza. UMass Boston would score the opening goal of the third period to get back within three but that would be as close as the Beacons would get in the matchup of ranked conference teams.Â

Jeffrey Skinner (Katy, Texas),
Kolye Bankauskas (Coventry, R.I.),
Andy Walker (Detroit, Mich.) and
Alex Duncan (Andover, Mass.) all scored in the loss for the Beacons. Bankauskas' goal marked the first goal of the freshman's collegiate career.Â

Chris Peters (Fairport, N.Y.) paced the Beacons with a team-high two assists.Â

In net,
Sam Best (Woburn, Mass.) stopped 14 of 21 shots over the first two periods. Sophomore
Connor McAnanama (Agawam, Mass.) made eight saves on nine shots in his second collegiate appearance.Â

Six different Statesmen scored in the victory, with Aaron Maguyon leading the way with a pair of goals.Â

Liam Lascelle was pulled after the first period, when he allowed three goals on nine shots. Fellow senior Joe Halstrom came on in relief and stopped 18 of 19 shots over the final two periods.Â

UMass Boston held the upper hand in the first 20 minutes.Â

After Hobart took the lead just past the midway point of the period, Skinner tied the game at 11:20 off of passes from
Michael Krupinski (Dallas, Texas) and
Ethan Nitkin (Miami, Beach, Fla.).Â

Bankauskas gave the Beacons the lead at 16:05 off a feed from
Gino Carabelli (Shelby Township, Mich.).Â

The hosts tied the game at 18:16, only for Walker to score a go-ahead, power-play tally at 19:32.
Joe Petruzzella (Scottsdale, Ariz.) and Peters earned assists on the play.Â

Hobart turned the game on it's head in the second period. The Statesmen tied the game 41 seconds into the second and took the lead on a short-handed goal at 4:13. They added two power-play goals and an even-strength goal in the final 6:52 of the period to take a 7-3 advantage into the third period.Â

Duncan gave the Beacons life early in the third when he scored a power-play goal three minutes into the stanza.
Evan Rochowiak (Livonia, Mich.) and Peters were credited with assists.Â

UMass Boston continued to pepper the Statesmen's net but couldn't find a way to get another goal back.Â

Hobart iced the game with 2:22 to play, when Mark Benemerito scored to cap off the 8-4 win.Â
