HOW IT HAPPENED

UMass Boston scored twice in each half and limited the Lions to three shots on goal in Beverlin's 100
th victory as head coach of the Beacons. The ninth-year (eight seasons) head coach is only the second coach in program history to reach 100 career victories and owns the highest winning percentage in program history (.687).

Denilson Goncalves (Fogo, Cape Verde) recorded a career-high three points in the win. The sophomore had a hand in each of the Beacons first two goals with a goal and an assist.

Logan Erickson Potter (Swansea, Mass.) scored his first collegiate goal and seniors
Emelson Barbosa (Fogo, Cape Verde) and
Nilton de Andrade (Fogo, Cape Verde) each added second-half tallies.

Diego Gisholt (Newton, Mass.) registered a team-high two assists in the win.

Qasim El-Ashkar (Salem, Mass.) improved to 5-0 on the year by making two saves on three shots.

Eastern Nazarene freshman goalie Mauricio Marun made five saves on nine shots in the opening 73:42. Antonio Soto Valente added one save in the final 16:18.

After a quiet opening 30 minutes, the Beacons struck for two goals in less than four minutes late in the first half.

UMass Boston opened the scoring off a
John Santos (Brockton, Mass.) corner kick. The ball caromed around the box with Goncalves eventually heading it home at the back post. Freshman
Dylan Kelley (Weymouth, Mass.) and Guisholt each picked up assists on the play.

At 38:06, Goncalves found Erickson Potter with a through ball and the freshman back beat Marun for a 2-0 advantage.

Eastern Nazarene got back into the game off a free kick in the 56
th minute. Lando David redirected Michael Fortscher's free kick past El-Ashkar to cut the Beacons lead to 2-1.

UMass Boston pushed the lead back to two off another corner kick. This time it was Gisholt who's corner kick was headed home by Barbosa at 65:12.

De Andrade added to his team-high scoring total in the 87
th minute. The senior midfielder curled in a shot past Marun at 86:03 to make it 4-1.

BY THE NUMBERS
- UMass Boston more than tripled up the Lions in shots (23-6), shots on goal (10-3) and corner kicks (15-2).
- Beverlin joins Noel Cotterell (1986-2002) as the only coaches with 100 or more wins in program history. Cotterell finished his career with 142 wins.
- De Andrade has now scored in eight-straight games and 12 of the 13 games he's appeared in this season. He is the fifth player in program history to reach 40 points in a single-season and is one point away from moving into a tie for third-place for points in a single-season.Â
- With the win, UMass Boston improved to 21-6-2 all-time against the Lions. Tuesday night's game was the first meeting between the two program since 2011.
- The Beacons moved into a tie for the third-longest unbeaten streak in program history (nine games). The Beacons only trail the 2015 team (10-straight wins) and the 2016 team (13-straight unbeaten).Â

UMass Boston will host Western Connecticut State University on Saturday at 4 p.m. for Senior Day. The Beacons will honor their seven seniors prior to the contest. Saturday's game will be a rematch of the 2019 Little East Conference Quarterfinals, in which WestConn advanced past the Beacons on penalty kicks after 110 scoreless minutes.
