BOSTON, Mass. – Led by Conor Lenfest's (Waltham, Mass.) career-high 10 goals and 13 points, lacrosse earned their third straight win to start the 2020 season as they blew past Emmanuel College by the final of 26-13 Wednesday afternoon at James Cotter Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Lenfest's career-high performance lifted the Beacons to their best start to a season since the 2016 campaign.  UMass Boston dominated the opening quarter of the contest as they unloaded 10 goals, while holding the Saints to just three tallies.

They continued to pour it on in the second stanza adding another 10 goals to take a 20-7 lead into the halftime break.  Emmanuel responded in the third quarter with a 5-0 run of their own to make it 20-12. 

In the final quarter, Lenfest eliminated any chance of an Emmanuel comeback as he scored four goals in the span of less than three minutes to double the Beacons lead (24-12).  Emmanuel scored their final goal at the 8:28 mark, but the Beacons sealed the victory with goals from Mic Flynn and Seth Child.

Along with his 10 goals, Lenfest also added three assists, and had three ground balls.  Gavin Admirand (Marshfield, Mass.) registered three goals and five assists, while Darragh Fahey (Walpole, Mass.) finished with three goals and an assist, as the Beacons "Big-3" continue to lead the Beacons attack.

Trevor Koppy (Attleboro, Mass.) picked-up his third win between the posts as he made four saves on 11 shots through the first 30 minutes.  Charlie Cook (Bedford, Mass.) completed the win, and made three saves in his second appearance of the year.

Chris Palin (West Bridgewater, Mass.) played another strong game in the Beacons defensive third, as he picked-up four caused turnovers, while adding four ground balls to his stat line. 

Jack Dobrzynski (West Greenwich, R.I.) was nearly perfect on the face-off as the junior went 23-for-25.  He added a season-high 19 ground balls, which was two short of matching his career-high mark. 

The Beacons attack pummeled Emmanuel's defense and netminder Randy Castle.  In total the Beacons fired-off 71 shots in the win, with Castle making 19 stops. 

UMass Boston's special teams picked-up four man-up goals, while the defense held the Saints scoreless on their six man-up attempts.  The Beacons combined for 60 ground balls, and forced a combined 33 Emmanuel turnovers.

• All-time the Beacons are now 1-1 against the Saints
• Wednesday's contest marked the first meeting between the intra-city rivals since 2013
• Lenfest became the first player to record 10 goals in a game since Jamie Mulroney set the single game record with 12 on April 10, 1993
• The Beacons 26 goals ties the program record for most in a single game; The original record was set in the 2020 season opener against Husson University
• The Beacons improved to 3-0 for the first time since the 2016 season
• The 20 assists in Wednesday's contest was one shy of tying the single game record, which was set in 2001 against UMass Dartmouth
• The Beacons also set a program record for points in a game with 46 (26g, 20a); The original record of 43 was set in 1997 and then matched in 2001
• Lenfest now sits with 88 career goals and has 132 points, which moved him into 14^th place all-time
• Fahey now has 50 points in his career as a Beacon
• Going into the contest, Admirand led the country in points per game, and was second in goals per game
• The Beacons currently lead Division III in goals per game
